We may receive information from:
-
Payment processors (e.g., confirmation of payment, last four digits of card, Plan status).
-
Email and marketing platforms (e.g., email engagement data).
-
AI, cloud, and infrastructure providers, where necessary to deliver features.
We do not intentionally collect special categories of data (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or religious beliefs) unless you choose to include such information in your writing or profile.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes and legal bases:
-

-
Creating and managing your account.
-
Storing, syncing, and backing up your User Content using cloud storage.
-
Providing authoring, organizing, and AI‑assisted writing features.
-

To process payments and manage Plans (contract, legitimate interests):
-
Handling purchases, renewals, cancellations, and billing communications.
-
-
To communicate with you (contract, consent, legitimate interests):
-
Transactional messages (account notices, service updates, security alerts).

Protecting against fraud, abuse, and security threats.

4. User Content (Your Writing and Projects)
“User Content” means any text, files, documents, images, or other material you upload or create within the Services, including manuscripts, drafts, prompts, notes, and research.
-
You retain ownership of your User Content. We do not claim ownership rights in the writing you create using the Services.
-
We process User Content only as necessary to operate and improve the Services, including storage, backup, syncing across devices (if enabled), and providing AI‑powered features at your request.
-
User Content is stored securely on cloud servers operated by trusted third‑party providers. Access is limited to authorized personnel and only when necessary (for example, to investigate a support request), and such access is logged where feasible.
You are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate rights and permission to User Content you upload or create and for maintaining your own backups in addition to any backups we provide.
5. AI Features and Third‑Party AI Providers
Our Services may include AI‑powered features (such as suggestions, summaries, content generation, or editing assistance). To provide these features, portions of your text and other necessary context may be sent to third‑party AI providers.
Our features use AI and apply the following principles:
-
We use third‑party AI providers under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
-
We do not permit these providers to use your personal data to train their general models, except where you have been clearly informed and given a choice consistent with applicable law.
-
AI providers may temporarily retain data for security, fraud prevention, or service quality, subject to their own privacy practices, which we select with care and will link to or identify where appropriate.
-
AI‑generated outputs may be logged and used to improve our own AI‑related features (e.g., understanding feature usage, detecting abuse), but we aim to anonymize or aggregate such data whenever possible.
Because AI may produce inaccurate or inappropriate output, you should review AI suggestions carefully before relying on or publishing them.
6. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to:
-
Keep you signed in and remember your settings.
-
Understand how the Services are used and improve performance.
-
Support marketing and communications, where permitted.
We may use analytics services such as Google Analytics or similar tools. These services collect information such as IP address, browser type, and page views to help us analyze usage trends.
You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where required by law (e.g., in the EU/UK), through consent banners or preferences tools. If you disable certain cookies, some features may not function properly.

We may share information with third parties when you give us permission to do so.
Where required by law (e.g., certain U.S. state privacy laws), we will explain whether certain disclosures constitute “sharing” or “selling” for targeted advertising and provide appropriate opt‑out mechanisms.

9. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
